Overview

Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) is a private Christian university located in Waxahachie, Texas, just thirty minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The university was established in 1927 and offers associates, bachelors, masters, and doctoral degree programs. Its academic portfolio includes a broad spectrum of disciplines, with particular emphasis on religious and professional studies. SAGU is characterized by its Pentecostal heritage and its campus reflects a modern design nestled within a suburban setting, accommodating students in both residence halls and apartment-style housing. Academically, the institution has a moderately selective application process. Popular majors at SAGU include Theology and Religious Vocations, Business, Education, Psychology, and Human Services. The university does not have a significant reputation for its athletic programs; however, it participates in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), with its sports teams known as the Lions.

In the most recent statistical year 627 prospective students applied, and 537 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 300 enrolled in the school.  1,323 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 471 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $16,822 plus fees of $960.
