Overview

Sinte Gleska University, located in Mission, South Dakota, is a tribal higher education institution situated within the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. This university, named to honor the Sicangu Lakota Chief Spotted Tail (Sinte Gleska), was established in 1970 and offers a unique cultural and educational experience rooted in the Lakota traditions and language. The campus exudes a tranquil atmosphere, surrounded by the expansive prairies of South Dakota, and yet is positioned approximately 200 miles southwest of the nearest urban center, Sioux Falls. Sinte Gleska University provides a range of associate, bachelor's, and master's degree programs, with a notable commitment to teacher education and an emphasis on arts, sciences, and Lakota studies. Sinte Gleska University has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  186 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 358 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $4,200 plus fees of $514.
