Bacone College, located in Muskogee, Oklahoma, is a private liberal arts college that was established in 1880. With a rich history as the oldest continuously operated institution of higher education in Oklahoma, Bacone has a heritage rooted in its founding for American Indian students, though it now serves a diverse student body. The campus presents a serene, suburban setting and owns a distinctive architectural landscape, with facilities reflecting both its historical significance and modern function. Academically, Bacone College is known for its programs in education, business administration, and health sciences among others, and generally exhibits a less selective admissions process. Residential life is an integral part of the Bacone experience with on-campus housing options available to students. While the institution is not primarily noted for its athletic programs, it does offer various sports and competes in the Sooner Athletic Conference with its teams known as the Warriors. Located approximately 50 miles southeast of Tulsa, Bacone College affords students a balance between a quiet campus atmosphere and access to the larger urban area of Tulsa.
