Defiance College

Overview

Defiance College, a private liberal arts institution established in 1850, is situated in the small city of Defiance, Ohio, approximately 55 miles southwest of Toledo. The campus is characterized by a suburban setting and offers on-campus living options to students. With a history rooted in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the college maintains a commitment to the liberal arts and experiential learning. Defiance College offers a range of undergraduate programs, with particular recognition in the areas of education, business, and environmental science. The institution practices moderately selective admissions, emphasizing a more individualized assessment of applicants. Defiance College is also acknowledged for incorporating service learning and global engagement into its curriculum. While not primarily known for its athletic programs, the college competes in NCAA Division III as the Defiance College Yellow Jackets.

In the most recent statistical year 2,722 prospective students applied, and 1,711 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 149 enrolled in the school.  482 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 58 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $34,556 plus fees of $772.
