Cankdeska Cikana Community College

Overview

Cankdeska Cikana Community College, situated in Fort Totten, North Dakota, provides a localized educational environment tailored to support and preserve the cultural heritage of the Spirit Lake Dakota Nation. Established in 1970, this tribal community college, also known as Little Hoop, extends an array of associate degree programs and certificates with notable focus areas in Native American studies, nursing, and business. The college fosters learning in a distinctive campus setting rich with tribal culture and history. While it does not offer on-campus housing, the community-centric campus allows students to engage closely with local Dakota culture and traditions. Academically, Cankdeska Cikana maintains an open admissions policy, welcoming a broad spectrum of students and emphasizing accessibility within its educational model.

Cankdeska Cikana Community College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  154 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 162 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $3,600 plus fees of $350.
