Montreat College

Overview

Montreat College, located in Montreat, North Carolina, is a private Christian liberal arts college founded in 1916. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and approximately 16 miles east of Asheville, the campus features a serene mountain setting with historic stone buildings, contributing to a picturesque academic environment. Montreat College offers a range of undergraduate programs with particular emphasis on outdoor education, cybersecurity, environmental science, and business administration. While the college has an inclusive admission policy, its application process remains selective, seeking students who demonstrate academic preparedness and alignment with the institution's values. The college provides residential facilities, with options for students to live on campus in a collection of residence halls and communal spaces designed to support their educational experience. Although Montreat College is not predominantly recognized for its athletic prowess, it does offer a variety of sports programs and competes as the Cavaliers in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

In the most recent statistical year 1,440 prospective students applied, and 980 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 210 enrolled in the school.  843 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 129 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $30,250 plus fees of $275.
