Louisburg College, located in the small town of Louisburg, North Carolina, approximately 30 miles northeast of Raleigh, is a private two-year residential junior college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Established in 1787 as Franklin Male Academy before becoming one of the oldest junior colleges in the nation, the historic campus features Georgian-style architecture centered around its Main Building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The college offers associate degree programs with an emphasis on preparing students for transfer to four-year institutions, with strong programs in business administration and education. Students are required to live on campus unless they reside locally with family, and the college maintains six residence halls while competing in NJCAA Division II athletics, particularly known for its baseball program.
