Overview

Johnston Community College (JCC), founded in 1969, is a public community college situated in Smithfield, North Carolina, approximately 30 miles southeast of Raleigh. The college offers a variety of certificate, diploma, and degree programs across numerous fields, with health sciences and business studies being among the most pursued academic tracks. On a sprawling suburban campus that fosters a conducive learning environment, JCC provides a comprehensive educational atmosphere with state-of-the-art facilities. Though it primarily serves as a commuter school, JCC recently introduced on-campus student housing options to accommodate learners seeking a residential college experience. Characterized by an open admissions policy, the college is accessible to a broad range of students. While JCC is not renowned for its athletics, it focuses on academic and professional preparation, offering continuing education and workforce development programs that cater to the evolving needs of the community and local industries.

Johnston Community College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  1,425 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 2,857 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $2,432 plus fees of $225.
