The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos Campus (UNM-LA) is a branch campus of the University of New Mexico located in the high-altitude town of Los Alamos, within close proximity to Santa Fe. Established in 1980, the campus serves as a community college to the Northern New Mexico region. Set against a backdrop of the Jemez Mountains, UNM-LA offers intimate learning environments with small class sizes aimed at both college readiness and workforce development. The academic repertoire of the campus spans associate degrees, professional certificates, and transfer modules, with a particular emphasis on pre-engineering, fire science, and applied technologies. The campus does not have on-campus housing but helps facilitate housing options for students in the Los Alamos area. While UNM-LA does not have an extensive intercollegiate athletic program, it provides a variety of student organizations and extracurricular activities. The admission process at UNM-LA is considered more accessible, aiming to accommodate a diverse range of students seeking post-secondary education or workforce training.
