Georgian Court University, established in 1908 and situated in Lakewood, New Jersey, is a private Roman Catholic university founded by the Sisters of Mercy. Approximately an hour's drive from both New York City and Philadelphia, the university's historic campus reflects a striking Gothic architectural style and spans 156 acres, including the serene Sister Mary Grace Burns Arboretum. Georgian Court University offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, with notable emphasis on the health sciences, education, and psychology. Known for a more inclusive admissions policy, the university provides residential housing options for its students. Although Georgian Court is not particularly renowned for its athletic programs, it competes in NCAA Division II as a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference under the team name the Lions.
