Overview

Little Priest Tribal College, located in Winnebago, Nebraska, is a public two-year institution rooted in the traditions and culture of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. Established in 1996, the college is named in honor of Chief Little Priest, the last war chief of the HoChunk people. It offers academic and vocational training with an emphasis on maintaining and strengthening the Tribe's language, culture, and history. The campus presents a serene, intimate setting for learning amidst the rural backdrop of northeastern Nebraska, approximately 20 miles south of Sioux City, Iowa. Noted for its open admissions policy, Little Priest Tribal College provides an array of associate degree programs, with a strong focus on Native American Studies, Early Childhood Education, and Business Administration. While the college does not maintain traditional on-campus housing, it promotes a supportive environment for commuter students. Known for providing higher education opportunities within the tribal community, Little Priest Tribal College encompasses a distinct educational experience that prioritizes indigenous knowledge and community advancement.

Little Priest Tribal College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  75 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 133 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $4,050 plus fees of $1,090.
