Student and Parent Reviews

Current Student
The Mount is a Catholic Country Club. You will pass, drink, and do all the other things you'd like. This school is best for student-athletes and the ultra religious. As you are either raging or praying. This is a safe place with decent academics, and an incredibly strong alumni network. If your kids a shithead this is a strong option. If you want a layup to grad school, The Mount is a strong option. If you want a fun party school, with cute girls...not so much.
Alumnus
Went to The Mount in the late 2000s. It was amazing. As an alumni I will never donate because I disagree with the direction the school is going. Someone would be crazy to pay $50k+ a year to go here. They get you in with high scholarships, where you have to maintain a minimum GPA. Focusing on lowering scholarship amounts, while also lowering the price would a more honest approach. I have multiple people I know 10+ years later that are in jobs that did not require a $120k+ degree... due to the labor market. School should focus on driving down tuition vs inflating the cost then providing scholarships, get into STEM, and cull some of the older alumni's on the board (replace them with 90s and 2000s alumni). The current board doesn't truly understand the current labor markets.
Parent
It has only been one semester and our daughter has been transformed from a hesitant, unassured teenager to a confident, believing, and determined woman in more ways than one. I couldn't be happier with our choice as a family to attend this university. She has developed a love for the outdoors through the crux program, and is now becoming a leader for them. As a Catholic family we are happy that Mass is so available and that our daughter has continued to grow in her faith. The school strives very hard to develop leadership skills throughout the student body in the hopes of transferring these skills to a successful job hunt post graduation. As a liberal arts university they do offer a broad range of majors but could be stronger in the STEM majors that are offered.
