Southern Maine Community College

Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) occupies a coastal campus in South Portland, Maine, situated on 80 acres of former military grounds overlooking Casco Bay and minutes from downtown Portland. The main campus features a mix of historic Fort Preble structures and modern academic buildings, with a second satellite campus located in Brunswick at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station. Established in 1946 as a vocational school to serve veterans returning from World War II, SMCC now operates as a comprehensive two-year institution within the Maine Community College System.
