College of the Atlantic (COA), located in Bar Harbor, Maine, is a small, private liberal-arts college founded in 1969 with a unique focus on human ecology, the study of the relationship between humans and their natural, social, and built environments. The institution offers a singular interdisciplinary degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Ecology, which enables students to tailor their studies across various disciplines, reflecting the college's emphasis on interdisciplinary learning and environmental stewardship.
