Grand View University, situated in the capital city of Des Moines, Iowa, is a private, not-for-profit institution founded in 1896 by the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The university's urban campus offers a blend of traditional and modern architecture, including residence halls for students who wish to live on campus. Known for a broad liberal arts education, Grand View provides a variety of undergraduate programs with a notable emphasis on business, nursing, and education. The university maintains a moderately selective admissions process. While Grand View does have an athletic program, it is not particularly renowned for its sports teams, which are known as the Vikings.
