Overview

Martin University, located in the urban setting of Indianapolis, Indiana, is a private, non-profit institution that stands as the only predominantly Black institution in the state. Established in 1977 by Rev. Fr. Boniface Hardin and Sr. Jane Schilling, its mission has been focused on serving low-income, minority, and adult learners. Martin University has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  84 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 103 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $12,840 plus fees of $360.

Martin University is designated as a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and receives federal grants supporting the school's efforts to serve low and middle-income Black Americans.
