Judson University, located in Elgin, Illinois, is a private Christian institution founded in 1963. Situated on a 90-acre campus along the Fox River, the university is approximately 40 miles northwest of Chicago and is noted for its picturesque grounds and contemporary architecture, including the Harm A. Weber Academic Center, which is distinguished by its environmentally friendly, or "green," design. Judson University offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, with a focus on leadership, architecture, education, and music, among others. The university emphasizes a liberal arts education with an evangelical Christian perspective and has moderately selective admissions criteria. While Judson provides a variety of residential options for students, including dormitories and apartment-style housing, it is also known for fostering close-knit community living on campus.
