Illinois College

Overview

Illinois College is a private liberal arts college located in Jacksonville, Illinois, approximately 30 miles west of the state capital, Springfield. Established in 1829, it is one of the earliest colleges founded in the state and holds the distinction of being the first college in Illinois to award a degree. The campus, characterized by a blend of historic and modern architecture, spans across a 80-acre site providing a quaint, collegiate atmosphere. Illinois College offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate programs, with a focus on the liberal arts and sciences. The institution is moderately selective in its admissions process. Students have the opportunity to live on campus, with a variety of housing options available. In the most recent statistical year 3,243 prospective students applied, and 2,503 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 233 enrolled in the school.  990 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 39 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $35,796 plus fees of $550.
