Overview

South Georgia State College (SGSC), a state-supported, four-year residential institution, is located in Douglas, Georgia, a small city approximately 200 miles southeast of Atlanta. Established in 1906, the college offers a range of associate and select baccalaureate degree programs, with a historical emphasis on providing a strong foundation in liberal arts. The campus merges traditional southern architecture with modern facilities, including on-campus housing options for students who prefer the immersive college experience. SGSC is characterized by its open admission policy, attracting a diverse student body with various academic interests, although select programs may have additional requirements. Known for its nursing and business programs, the college serves as a stepping-stone for students pursuing careers in these fields. While South Georgia State College is not primarily recognized for its athletic programs, it provides various intercollegiate sports opportunities for students under the team name the Hawks.

South Georgia College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  1,778 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 492 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $2,532 plus fees of $1,030.
