I am transferring after two years. I do not recommend coming here. Trust me, you will hear this from other students. All the students are from the same category, and the school greatly lacks diversity. No school spirit at all (No one goes to the games). Essentially it felt like high school 2.0. The school has really mediocre rankings for the cost. Food sucks, and housing is even worse. Super expensive, and you probably won't get housing. The only nice thing is the campus, but with that comes expensive stuff. Altogether, do not make the same mistake that I did, and GO ELSEWHERE! You will thank me for not coming here.

Do not waste your time coming here. Better go to another university either in Florida or another state. There is no sense of community on campus since we do not have a football team and sports are not supported by the students. There is no diversity since everyone is from New York so do not come here expecting to meet people from different states or countries. The rankings, graduation rate (approx 50%), retention rate, and other factors prove that the University of Tampa is just not a good school. The campus is beautiful and we are close to downtown but those are all the cons that the university has. With that comes the high cost of living, going to a club can cost you approx $30 per night and drinks are really expensive. Things here are generally expensive.

I'm an older student who transferred so my experience may be different than most. I wanted to live off campus but man-oh-man is it the worst traffic you'll ever experience in your life. Most students are from up north here (which I'll get back to) and we're used to traffic but this, well this is a different kind of traffic. You will sit bumper to bumper no matter what time of day so make sure if you do commute you are leaving at least an hour before class. Yes that's right, an hour. If I were you I'd leave two hours because parking isn't great either. They technically have three commuter lots but only two are strictly for commuters if you don't count that the first two floors are for faculty. Keep in mind that upperclass man will most likely have to live off campus as they do not have enough housing for all 4 years. As I stated, a majority of the student body is from up north. If you aren't used to people from Jersey or New York you will most likely not have a good experience here. The truth is, most students are probably deemed "rude" but it's just how we were raised. Also a lot of these students come from BIG money so they really don't care if they flunk or pass. If you're looking for a more serious and studious student body this isn't the school for you. I'm an English major so most of my peers in my classes were a bit more serious. I'd say if you were willingly choosing a degree where you have to read and write all the time you are probably a bit more studious than let's say the business and sports management majors. It's totally fine if that's what you want but just keep that in mind. I've had such an incredible experience with a majority of the faculty I've encountered/had class with. The female professors here are outstanding. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I truly felt like I learned a lot and have already used so much of what I've learned in my real life. On the other hand, I find the male professors here have really big egos. It's quite strange. Some of them are very nice but others are convinced they are teaching at Harvard. The campus is so beautiful, honestly I'm surprised it's not voted one of the most beautiful campuses in the country (or maybe it is). You are in the heart of Tampa. They are doing a lot of construction but just finished major building projects that have made the campus even more beautiful. It could use some help here and there, what can't? But nonetheless, I've enjoyed my time walking along the river and getting to take classes in beautiful Plant Hall. I'm someone who has been in school for a while, unsure of where to go next and how to get there and I can truly say that UT was worth the wait. I learned so much here and am proud to say that there is where I graduated from. There are pros and cons to every single school. You will not love it everyday, you will probably hate your first year and swear you'll never return and then one day it's over and you wish you could go back. You cannot let a few bad apples influence your decision no matter where you go. This school is demanding, I've had so much classwork I swore I needed to drop out just to get it under control but I got through it. If you do not put your work in, you will not get good results. UT could be the best four years of your life or the worst, it really just depends on how you go about it.

I just graduated from the university of tampa and this is my HONEST OPINION. PROS: Nice campus, average class of 20 or more. CONS: NO DIVERSITY (Everyone is from New York). NO SENSE OF COMMUNITY since we do not have a football team and sports are not supported by students at all. The stadiums are usually empty. EXPENSIVE for an OK university. Expect to waste +50k a year if you decide to come to this university. NO HOUSING. You will probably won't get housing on campus, so you will have to pay a lot of money to live 20 minutes away. PARTY AFTER PARTY. Most students are lazy and only like to party from Thursday- to Sunday and after your first semester it will feel like a routine. THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE. I am not picky at all. Food is not fresh and everyone tells you that is disgusting. Overall, I recommend you going to a better university in Florida such as UMiami, FSU, UF, Rollins, UCF, FAU, UNF, FIU or other universities that are way better than the university of tampa. The university does not have a good reputation within the city and it is worse across the country. It is maybe ranked number 500 in the nation and it is very costly for what they offer. DO NOT GO TO THE UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA. Going here was literally the WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE.

I had a terrible experience at the university of tampa. Graduation and retention rates are both very low. Both are below 60% and that means many students here are not happy, so they transfer to another university. I transferred after my second year to another university in Florida since I was paying +50k and it was not worth it at all. DO NOT COME HERE.

I had a terrible experience at the university of tampa. It felt like a routine. Go to clubs on the weekend and just do nothing during weekdays. there are no organizations on campus. Online, it says that there are and you can get involved, but that is not true at all. There are no events on campus. People, in general, do not pay attention during classes and they do not study at all. Students here are laid back and love going to clubs from Thursday-Sunday. DO NOT COME HERE.

I thought I was going to like the University of Tampa, but I did not end up liking it. The nice campus is the only good thing about the university. The academics, reputation, and lack of diversity are terrible. I recommend you not come here. I end up transferring to another school in Florida and I end up being way happier.

I HAD A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT UTAMPA. Do not go to the University of Tampa. There is no sense of community on campus since we do not have a football team and sports in general on campus are not even a thing. No one goes to the stadium to get involved. Most students are lazy and only like to party from Thursday- to Sunday. There is no diversity at all (everyone is from the northeast, specifically Long Island and they are going to judge you if you are not from there) there are just a few organizations to be involved on campus. There are more frats and sororities than true organizations. The food is terrible and I am not picky at all. Food is not fresh and everyone tells you that is disgusting. You will probably be depressed if you come here. This class is overall so difficult. I barely passed this course and was stressed the whole semester. I just wanted to pass the class and I achieved that. The professor made it easy to lose all motivation to do well in the class. The professor reads straight from the textbook and his lecture slides are copied and pasted to PowerPoint. His exam questions are intentionally ambiguous, it's almost as if he wants his students to fail. He is old school and has an authoritarian style of teaching. Just avoid this class.

You pay top dollar for the quality of education you can receive at community college. I was so disappointed attending this school. I graduated from UT and then did another degree at a state school that was far superior at a fraction of the price. UT= Adjuncts galore, a low endowment so they have to con students anyway they can, and a dishonest and incompetent administration. They reward their president with a salary that is not equivalent to the university?s standing. The school also goes out of their way to hide/scrub bad reviews. That is why they deactivated Facebook reviews and keep trying to use new review websites. However, bad reviews still pile up because of the ?experience? students receive.

The university does not have housing for all students. Enough only for the freshman and sophomores. Juniors and seniors have to find their own apt...and Tampa is very expensive. University does nothing to help this. They could accept less students...or build housing

A good school if you?re white upperclass. Academics are not challenging and they have a really weird grading system. The faculty are pretty bad, and the advising office is no help. Team spirit is almost non-existent The only thing above average about this school is that it?s pretty; that?s about it. If you want to go through another 4 years of high school, then come here because every one is really cliquey. Not the full college experience here at all.
