Overview

Florida Memorial University (FMU) is situated in Miami Gardens, Florida, offering students a suburban campus experience within close proximity to the vibrant city of Miami. Founded in 1879, FMU holds the distinction of being South Florida?s only historically black university, and it remains committed to providing a comprehensive higher education to a diverse student body. The university fosters a range of undergraduate, graduate, and online programs, with a notable emphasis on its aviation and STEM fields. Housing is provided on campus with options for residential living that cater to undergraduates. While FMU harbors no specific architectural hallmark, its facilities are designed to support its educational mission. The institution exhibits a moderately selective admissions process. Despite not being renowned for its athletics, FMU competes in the NAIA as the Lions, offering several sports programs to its students.

In the most recent statistical year 11,931 prospective students applied, and 8,344 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 409 enrolled in the school.  1,045 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 92 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $12,576 plus fees of $4,260.
