Our daughter has been in the OT Graduate Program, and is so discouraged. She is an A+ student who strives for perfection in everything she does. She studies and applies herself every day, yet it seems nothing is ever good enough. The teachers are arrogant and nasty, are not approachable, and insist on only cramming enormous amounts (100 pages at a time) of intricate medical information, yet only give them 10 question on the test. Every single student in the class fails the test because it is way too much to comprehend in such a short amount of time, and it is impossible to prepare without adequate preparation by the professor. Each student is forced to self-teach themselves, and half the time, the grades need curving by at least 20 or 30 points at a time because every student fails the test! When a student asks a viable question, they are shot down by the teacher who makes them feel embarrassed as if they are asking below standard questions. After 5 years in the program, our daughter is made to believe that her interest should be in another field because she just can?t hack it, or handle the load. The advisors have no answers and do not help at all, and there isn?t any encouragement by the teacher or the staff! This college is more interested on outward beauty on the campus, and they hope that their students fail their courses so that they can continue funding their campus improvement projects. How sad is that? This university should get its priorities straight! These OT students are more than eager to excel, and are very intelligent students who are putting their blood sweat and tears into their healthcare careers, and are hoping to make a difference in the world. Maybe they should be given some respect, information and coaching so that they can be successful. If you are considering this college for your son/daughter, please think again. It may look nice on the outside, but is just a money-grabber, and all smoke and mirrors. They should focus more on preparing their students for the amazing careers ahead of them.

Sacred Heart University has done much to update the grounds to make it look very appealing (like a country club), and, as a result has had much growth, but the infrastructure has not grown in unison. Students have difficulty signing up for requires classes and meeting on a timely basis with their advisor. Support services are stretched. Housing can be either really good or extremely poor with some students placed in triples that look like they weren?t meant to be. Before adding more students the school needs to focus on infrastructure. As a parent I?m feeling there was a bit of a bait and switch.

I chose SHU because of the friendly, enthusiastic atmosphere of the student body, which made it stand out from the other schools I applied to. Sacred Heart combines academic excellence alongside a student body that is actively involved in a diverse number of on-campus organizations, including Greek Life, Habitat for Humanity, and a variety of performing arts and sports opportunities. Attending SHU has made me grow so much as a person and I couldn't be happier to be a Pioneer!

Going to SHU was the best decision I have EVER made! All of the negative comments on here should be completely ignored because they do not represent SHU in anyway. Everyone at SHU is very friendly, all of the professors are always willing to help in anyway possible and there are so many extra curricular activities to be involved in! The school is very clean and is always being updated. The academic programs are outstanding and are definitely worth every penny! If you want to have an amazing college experience, then go to Sacred Heart University! You will NOT regret it!
