Gateway Community College in New Haven, Connecticut offers a wide range of associate degree and certificate programs designed to equip students for the workforce or to transfer to a four-year institution. Situated in the downtown area of New Haven, it provides an urban campus setting in close proximity to Yale University. Established in 1992 through the merger of South Central Community College and the Greater New Haven State Technical College, Gateway has since evolved into a comprehensive community college serving over 14,000 students annually. Known for its strong programs in nursing, allied health, and automotive technology, the college maintains an open admissions policy, with no selective criteria for general admission, focusing on accessibility to higher education for all applicants. While Gateway does not offer on-campus housing, its urban location gives students access to a variety of off-campus accommodations. Gateway Community College does not have an emphasis on intercollegiate athletics.
