Marion Military Institute (MMI), located in Marion, Alabama, is a public military junior college and one of only four military junior colleges in the United States. Established in 1842, MMI provides a disciplined educational environment that integrates academic, military, and leadership training. The historic campus, known for its antebellum and Greek Revival architectural styles, offers students an immersive on-campus living experience. Situated roughly 78 miles west of Montgomery, Alabama's capital, MMI lies in a small-town setting that contributes to a focused study atmosphere. MMI is recognized for its Service Academy Preparation Program, aimed at students pursuing commissions in the armed forces, and it maintains a transfer-focused curriculum in various academic fields. While selective in admissions, it caters to a range of academic backgrounds. MMI does not have a notable intercollegiate athletic program, instead prioritizing academic and military preparation.
