Overview

Whitman College, a private liberal arts institution established in 1882, is nestled in the small city of Walla Walla, Washington, approximately 260 miles southeast of Seattle. Known for its intimate academic environment, Whitman offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate programs with a strong emphasis on environmental studies, psychology, and biology. The college's campus highlights a picturesque blend of Neoclassical and modern architecture set against the backdrop of the scenic Blue Mountains. Committed to a comprehensive educational experience, Whitman is selective, favoring a more rigorous application process to curate its student body. Students are primarily housed on campus, fostering a close-knit residential experience that complements their academic pursuits. While Whitman does not specifically boast a nationally recognized athletics program, it supports a variety of intercollegiate, club, and intramural sports teams known collectively as the Blues.

In the most recent statistical year 5,497 prospective students applied, and 2,622 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 336 enrolled in the school.  1,450 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 43 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $58,200 plus fees of $422.
