Overview

Washington State University (WSU), located in Pullman, Washington, is a public research university established in 1890. The campus is situated in the Palouse region, a primarily agricultural area known for its rolling hills, and is some 75 miles south of Spokane, offering a rural college town environment. Architecturally, the campus features a mix of modern and historical red brick buildings. WSU is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities ? Very high research activity" and maintains a broad range of academic programs with notable emphases in veterinary medicine, pharmacy, agriculture, and engineering. The university offers on-campus housing options, including residence halls and apartment-style living. The application process at WSU is considered moderately selective. In terms of athletics, WSU competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Pac-12 Conference, with the football team, known as the Cougars, attracting particular attention.

In the most recent statistical year 19,401 prospective students applied, and 16,123 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 3,991 enrolled in the school.  23,128 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 4,411 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $10,708 plus fees of $1,993.
