The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth (UMass Dartmouth), located in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, is a public research university that offers a wide array of undergraduate and graduate programs. Established in 1895, the University became part of the University of Massachusetts system in 1991. UMass Dartmouth's suburban campus spans approximately 710 acres, featuring a distinctive Brutalist architectural style, and provides on-campus housing options for students. The University is situated roughly 60 miles from Boston and about 30 miles from Providence, Rhode Island, allowing students access to urban resources and opportunities for internships and employment. UMass Dartmouth holds a moderate level of selectivity in its admissions process. Academically, it is known for programs in engineering, business, nursing, and marine science.
