Overview

Howard University, located in Washington, D.C., is a private, historically Black university that plays a significant role in American history and education since its founding in 1867. Positioned within the nexus of the nation's capital, the campus stands as an urban center of learning deeply rooted in African-American culture, with distinctive neo-classical architectural elements that house its various academic and residential buildings. In the most recent statistical year 19,188 prospective students applied, and 10,253 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 2,493 enrolled in the school.  11,550 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,336 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $30,584 plus fees of $466.
