University of the Incarnate Word

Overview

The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), based in San Antonio, Texas, is a private, Catholic university founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Known for its distinctive Spanish colonial architecture, UIW's campus blends historical design with modern facilities. Offering a range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs, the university is notably home to the Rosenberg School of Optometry and the Feik School of Pharmacy. Known for a fairly liberal acceptance policy, UIW provides a diverse educational environment with a plethora of majors, with Business, Nursing, and Biology among the most pursued by the student body. On-campus housing is available to students looking to immerse themselves in the collegiate experience. While not primarily recognized for its athletic prowess, UIW competes in NCAA Division I as the Cardinals, fielding a variety of sports teams including football, basketball, and soccer.

In the most recent statistical year 9,625 prospective students applied, and 9,067 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 977 enrolled in the school.  6,140 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,165 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $32,440 plus fees of $1,960.
