Overview

Huston-Tillotson University is a private historically black university located in the heart of Austin, Texas. Established in 1875, the institution is the oldest institution of higher learning in Austin and has a long-standing affiliation with The United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, and the United Negro College Fund. The university's urban campus exhibits a blend of modern and historic architecture, with facilities that support on-campus living for students. Huston-Tillotson offers undergraduate degrees across various fields of study, with notable programs in Business Administration, Education, and the Natural Sciences. As a smaller institution, Huston-Tillotson provides a selective admissions process, focusing on a holistic review of applicants. While the university does not have a pronounced emphasis on athletics, it does field teams in several sports, competing in the NAIA as the Rams and Lady Rams.

In the most recent statistical year 1,885 prospective students applied, and 979 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 184 enrolled in the school.  973 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 52 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $12,569 plus fees of $2,134.
