Overview

Oglala Lakota College, established in 1971, is a tribal college located on the Pine Ridge Reservation in Kyle, South Dakota. Serving mainly the Oglala Sioux tribal community, this institution provides a unique educational environment focused on preserving Lakota culture and language. The scenic campus offers a tranquil, rural setting that reflects its mission to provide educational opportunities that enhance Lakota life. With an open admissions policy, the college is accessible to all, emphasizing a commitment to community and cultural education. Oglala Lakota College is particularly renowned for its Lakota Studies and Nursing programs, and it offers a range of associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. While the college does not provide traditional on-campus housing, it supports a network of multiple learning centers scattered throughout the reservation. Oglala Lakota College does not have a focus on intercollegiate athletics, instead prioritizing academic and cultural enrichment for its students.

Oglala Lakota College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  486 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 691 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $2,016 plus fees of $668.
