United States Military Academy

Overview

The United States Military Academy, commonly known as West Point, is a four-year federal service academy situated on a scenic plateau overlooking the Hudson River, approximately 50 miles north of New York City. Established in 1802, West Point is the oldest of the five service academies and has a historic campus known for its military Gothic architecture. With a strong emphasis on duty, honor, and country, the academy is highly selective, offering a rigorous curriculum with a focus on engineering and military science. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science degree and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. All cadets live on campus throughout their four years in a structured military environment designed to foster the development of leadership skills. The academy fields a number of NCAA Division I athletic teams, known as the Black Knights, with its football program being particularly noteworthy.

In the most recent statistical year 12,559 prospective students applied, and 1,501 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 1,173 enrolled in the school.  4,393 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 0 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $0 plus fees of $0.
