Overview

Ocean County College (OCC), a public community college located in Toms River, New Jersey, offers an array of academic programs with a focus on associate degrees and certificate programs designed for immediate workforce entry or transfer to four-year institutions. Established in 1964, the college serves the students of Ocean County and operates on a spacious suburban campus that provides a traditional academic setting amid the natural beauty of a coastal environment, roughly 50 miles east of Philadelphia and 70 miles south of New York City. While primarily a commuter school without on-campus housing, OCC facilitates local living arrangements for students. Admissions at Ocean County College are considered non-competitive, with an open admissions policy, making higher education accessible to a broad range of applicants. Among its diverse academic offerings, OCC is recognized for its nursing and health sciences programs. Although not primarily known for athletics, the college supports a variety of sports teams nicknamed the Vikings.

Ocean County College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  3,040 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 4,146 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $5,790 plus fees of $0.
