Overview

Southwest Mississippi Community College (SMCC), located in Summit, Mississippi, was established in 1918 as an agricultural high school and later evolved into a junior college. Now it serves as a public, two-year institution offering a range of academic, technical, and career programs. Southwest Mississippi Community College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  1,387 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 420 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $3,200 plus fees of $400.

Southwest Mississippi Community College is designated as a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and receives federal grants supporting the school's efforts to serve low and middle-income Black Americans.
