Fort Scott Community College (FSCC), established in 1919, stands as the oldest community college in Kansas, located in the city of Fort Scott, with its campus reflecting a blend of historic and modern architectural styles. The college provides a diverse academic profile, featuring notable programs in nursing, agriculture, and construction trades, among others. FSCC's academic atmosphere is focused on accessibility and personalized education, with an open admissions policy indicative of a non-selective institution. Although it is not in close proximity to any major metropolitan area, its campus affords a serene setting conducive to study and collegiate activities. While the college offers on-campus housing for students wanting to engage in the residential college experience, it does not have a widespread reputation for intercollegiate athletic programs, and thus places a greater emphasis on academic and technical training within its educational model.

Fort Scott Community College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  685 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 814 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $1,860 plus fees of $1,740.
