Overview

Chicago State University is a public institution situated in the heart of Chicago, Illinois, providing a diverse and urban academic environment in close proximity to the city's cultural and business resources. Founded in 1867 as a teacher training school, the university now offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, with a particular emphasis on education, health professions, and business. Chicago State University is designated as a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and receives federal grants supporting the school's efforts to serve low and middle-income Black Americans.
