Founded in 1963, Pitzer College is a private liberal arts college located in Claremont, California, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. As a member of the Claremont Colleges consortium, Pitzer students enjoy a small, close-knit campus atmosphere with access to resources of the larger academic community. The campus is distinguished by its environmentally sustainable and architecturally significant facilities, reflecting the school's emphasis on environmental studies. Pitzer College is recognized for its interdisciplinary curriculum, a distinct feature that includes popular majors such as Environmental Analysis and Sociocultural Anthropology. The college offers a residential experience with on-campus housing available for students. While not primarily known for athletics, the college participates in joint athletic programs with Claremont McKenna and Harvey Mudd colleges as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps teams.
