Overview

Heritage University, located in Toppenish, Washington, is a private institution founded in 1982 that offers an intimate, multicultural learning environment. Nestled in the Yakima Valley, approximately 20 miles south of Yakima, the university sits amidst rural surroundings with a campus that reflects the Pacific Northwest architecture. Heritage University is known for providing access to higher education to multicultural populations, with a significant proportion of its student body being members of the local Yakama Nation and other underserved communities. Academic offerings are diverse, with programs such as education, the sciences, and social work being among the more popular majors. The university operates on a less selective admissions policy, which aligns with its mission of empowering a diverse and often underserved student body. Heritage University does not emphasize intercollegiate athletics as a core part of its identity. On-campus housing is not currently offered, encouraging a commuter culture among students, but efforts are made to accommodate the needs of its diverse student population through supportive services and resources.

Heritage University has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  733 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 120 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $19,500 plus fees of $0.
