Virginia Intermont College, previously located in Bristol, Virginia, was a private, four-year liberal arts institution before its closure in 2014. The campus featured a mix of contemporary and historic buildings, blending with the picturesque landscape of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Situated near the Tennessee border, Bristol is partway between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Knoxville, Tennessee, both approximately two hours away by car. Established in 1884, the college aimed to offer a broad education grounded in the liberal arts tradition. While active, Virginia Intermont offered a range of undergraduate programs with notable emphasis on equine studies, photography, and business administration. It provided on-campus housing options for its students. The college, when operational, had a moderately selective admissions policy. The Virginia Intermont Cobras, though not widely renowned, competed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference before the school's closure.

In the most recent statistical year 179 prospective students applied, and 176 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 79 enrolled in the school.  486 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 63 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $24,542 plus fees of $100.
