Overview

Shenandoah University, located in Winchester, Virginia, is a private institution established in 1875. Situated in the Northern Shenandoah Valley near the West Virginia border, the university is approximately 75 miles from Washington, D.C., providing students with access to the cultural and professional opportunities of a major metropolitan area while enjoying a smaller town setting. The campus features a blend of historic and modern architecture with facilities that support both residential and commuter student populations. Academically, Shenandoah University is known for its programs in the health professions, performing arts, and conservatory. The university is moderately selective in its admissions process. While Shenandoah does not have a widely known athletic program, it supports a range of varsity sports teams nicknamed the Hornets. On-campus housing is available to students, complementing the university?s diverse academic and extracurricular offerings.

In the most recent statistical year 2,296 prospective students applied, and 1,845 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 475 enrolled in the school.  2,904 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,356 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $33,790 plus fees of $1,380.
