University of Lynchburg, established in 1903, is a private institution located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Lynchburg, Virginia, approximately 180 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. The campus showcases a mix of modern and historical buildings, set on a picturesque 250-acre campus with notable Georgian architecture. Known for its liberal arts education, the University of Lynchburg offers more than 50 undergraduate majors, with particularly recognized programs in health sciences and business. Students can choose from a variety of graduate programs, including doctoral degrees in physical therapy and education leadership. On-campus housing is available, with options for traditional residence halls, pet-friendly houses, and themed living communities. The institution has a moderately selective admissions process. The University of Lynchburg is a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and competes in NCAA Division III athletics, with their teams known as the Hornets, but is not specifically celebrated for athletic prominence.
