Ferrum College

Overview

Ferrum College is a private liberal arts institution located in Ferrum, Virginia, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with a considerable campus expanse comprising predominantly of Colonial Revival architecture. Established in 1913, the college provides a scenic environment approximately 35 miles south of Roanoke, embracing a rural atmosphere amid picturesque landscapes. Ferrum offers a range of undergraduate degrees with a particular focus on programs within environmental science, agricultural sciences, and teacher education, reflecting its origins as a school of agriculture. While the college maintains an open admissions policy, its selectivity is moderate, inviting a diverse student body. In the most recent statistical year 1,452 prospective students applied, and 1,224 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 238 enrolled in the school.  765 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 90 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $37,400 plus fees of $920.
