Overview

Southern Utah University (SUU), a public institution established in 1897, is nestled in Cedar City, Utah, approximately 50 miles from Zion National Park, offering a blend of outdoor recreation and small-town charm. The university?s campus reflects a distinct blend of red-brick architecture set against a backdrop of scenic southwestern Utah landscapes. SUU prides itself on a student-centered learning environment and offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs, with notable emphasis on the performing and visual arts as well as its College of Education. Academically, the institution maintains a moderately selective admissions process. Residence halls and apartment-style housing provide on-campus living options for students. In the most recent statistical year 18,570 prospective students applied, and 15,571 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 2,160 enrolled in the school.  8,488 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 5,842 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $6,006 plus fees of $764.
