Overview

Southwestern University, located in Georgetown, Texas, is a private, liberal arts college approximately 28 miles north of Austin. Established in 1840, Southwestern holds the distinction of being the oldest institution of higher learning in the state. The campus architecture features a blend of historic and modern buildings, fostering a picturesque setting. Offering a range of undergraduate degrees, Southwestern is particularly noted for its programs in the Fine Arts, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. With a selective admissions process, the university seeks students who exhibit a strong academic foundation and a diverse set of interests. In the most recent statistical year 5,557 prospective students applied, and 2,489 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 436 enrolled in the school.  1,465 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 18 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $48,450 plus fees of $200.
