Fisk University

Overview

Fisk University, established in 1866, is a private historically black university located in Nashville, Tennessee. Known for its rigorous liberal arts curriculum and active research initiatives, Fisk is one of the oldest institutions of higher education for African Americans. The campus boasts notable historic buildings, such as Jubilee Hall, an example of Victorian Gothic architecture and the first permanent structure built in the South for the education of black students. Fisk's urban setting offers students a vibrant atmosphere just minutes from downtown Nashville, providing a blend of cultural, educational, and professional opportunities. In the most recent statistical year 7,268 prospective students applied, and 5,158 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 323 enrolled in the school.  1,017 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 38 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $21,600 plus fees of $1,978.
