Overview

Lander University, established in 1872 and nestled in the small city of Greenwood, South Carolina, offers a picturesque campus environment that lies approximately an hour away from the urban offerings of Greenville. The university boasts a mix of contemporary and historic architecture across its campus which provides on-campus living accommodations to promote a residential learning experience. Lander is a public institution recognized for its strong academic programs in nursing, business administration, and education, attracting students who seek a more personalized learning climate with a broadly inclusive admissions policy. While the university does not emphasize a high selectivity in admissions, it does maintain a focus on academic achievement and engagement. Lander University fields a variety of NCAA Division II athletic teams known as the Bearcats, with notable emphasis on basketball and soccer where the school has achieved regional recognition.

In the most recent statistical year 4,663 prospective students applied, and 3,143 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 842 enrolled in the school.  3,317 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 850 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $10,700 plus fees of $1,000.
