Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, commonly known as SRU, is a public university located in the rural town of Slippery Rock, approximately 50 miles north of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1889 as Slippery Rock State Normal School, the institution has evolved into a comprehensive university offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.
