Overview

Penn State Mont Alto, a commonwealth campus of Pennsylvania State University, is a public institution located in the rural setting of Mont Alto, within close proximity to the larger city of Harrisburg. Established in 1903, the campus is steeped in history and maintains a small college atmosphere. With its main emphasis on undergraduate education, it offers a range of associate and bachelor's degree programs, with nursing and business-related majors among the more popular fields of study for students. The campus features a lower level of application selectivity compared to some other institutions within the Penn State system. It provides residential facilities for students who opt to live on-campus, fostering an environment conducive to academic focus and community involvement. Penn State Mont Alto is not particularly known for its athletics program and therefore does not place a significant emphasis on sports.

In the most recent statistical year 678 prospective students applied, and 619 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 190 enrolled in the school.  574 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 96 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $13,824 plus fees of $516.
