Marywood University

Overview

Founded in 1915, Marywood University is a private Catholic liberal arts university located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, with a scenic 115-acre residential campus that features a mix of modern and historic architecture, including the notable Rotunda and Liberal Arts Center. Approximately two hours from New York City and Philadelphia, Marywood offers a tranquil setting amidst the small-city backdrop of Scranton. The university provides a range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, with notable emphasis on Health and Human Services, Education, and Arts and Sciences. Marywood is less competitive in terms of admissions, welcoming a diverse student body from various backgrounds. Housing options are available on campus, providing residential facilities for students who opt to live within this close-knit academic community. While Marywood includes an array of varsity sports teams known as the Pacers, it is not predominantly recognized for its athletics.

In the most recent statistical year 2,645 prospective students applied, and 2,136 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 445 enrolled in the school.  2,449 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 280 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $36,430 plus fees of $1,796.
