Overview

Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), located in the heart of Portland, Oregon, is a center for creative education within an urban setting known for its vibrant arts scene. Established in 1909, PNCA has grown to become a pivotal institution for the visual and design arts, offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs with a focus on critical practice and studio education. The campus, marked by its renovated Federal Building that threads contemporary design within a historical context, provides students with a dynamic learning environment. PNCA's curriculum is known for its majors in Communications Design, Illustration, and Creative Writing, among others. While the college maintains a selective admissions process, it does not offer athletic programs, focusing its resources on artistic development and innovation. In the most recent statistical year 471 prospective students applied, and 445 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 90 enrolled in the school.  464 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 23 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $45,000 plus fees of $100.
